This year Ruth decided to try out for Ballet West's Nutcracker. I was a little bit excited to relive my youth a bit, too. She registered to try out for Buffoon, because of the height. So, last saturday we headed to Salt Lake to try out. Ruth was a bit nervous, but in the end we figured it would be fun to try out, regardless of the outcome. After being in the try out for 1 1/2 hours the lady came out and said, "Here comes the first of the girls to get cut, be kind and uplifting they did a great job." In that instance I thought to myself, "oh no, I don't want to see her cry and be disappointed." I think that was the first time I realized what we had got ourselves into. As I watched and waited for Ruth she didn't come, but others came and they were crying. It made me cry! What an act of bravery to put yourself out there at such a young age! Ruth never came...
About 20 minutes later the same lady came out and said, "If some of you are missing a buffoon, CONGRATS! They remaining dancers made it! I took one look at Ashlie, and we cried! What a fun thing. We went to the door and watched as all these little girls came out screaming, Ruth included. Fun for Ruth, fun for me! This is going to be a commitment that might send me to the looney bin (because of the rest of the night's happening...later post). For now we welcome it and we are excited to watch her jump around on that big stage!
WAY TO GO RUTH!
Oh, how fun! You will have to keep me posted...I would love to see her dance!
